possible sites and their locations with photos for Transitions Assignment 6
I live in an area surrounded by disused coal mines in which the land is being naturalised. My local coal mine is now a country park, which is far from picturesque. Travelling further afield, the landscape is still not really striking or picturesque. I needed somewhere accessible for morning or afternoon shoots that had some access that I could explore a little. I struggled initially in thinking I was looking for a "view"
Eventually I narrowed it down to two sites which made a 6 mile round trip by bike and when the weather became really wet and soggy, by foot.
My second site (the furthest from home) was being renovated and "Friar Tuck's Well" was being restored. Through research and developing the context around why I was using this site, I think it was the right site to continue with. This is a transition in both senses of the word - the photographs document changes to the landscape and the space is transitional being once famous to not remembered, to being signposted and once again people are beginning to discover it because of the changes.
